Weekly health clinics provided by the Good Samaritan Health Center offer medical, dental, and mental health care to our downtown community. Since the summer of 2015, Cause for Hope has had an incredibly beneficial relationship with the Good Samaritan Health Center, located at 1015 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway SW in downtown Atlanta. After receiving grants to provide health care to uninsured, unhoused people, Good Samaritan began offering free medical, mental health, and dental care one day a month to our largely homeless population. The very first clinic was held on August 28th, 2015. The excellent care and especially the compassionate, loving attention our friends received that first year made this clinic so popular that Good Samaritan began offering these services on two Fridays a month in early 2016, and in September of 2016 began holding the clinic every single Friday. Good Samaritan provides transportation to and from the clinic by hiring a large van and driver who comes to a central location at Woodruff Park on Friday mornings. Many, many people who attend our Common Ground of Hope Recovery meetings and our Clothing Closet have benefited from access to the excellent, compassionate care that Good Samaritan has offered them. This Friday clinic has met a pressing need, filling a huge gap in services in our neighborhood, helping those who have the least access to healthcare and are at the highest risk of having serious undiagnosed and untreated health issues. This is literally a dream come true, and our gratitude to the Good Samaritan Health Center knows no bounds!
